50 Essential Summer Activities for Your Family

Sweet, sweet summertime!! How I love you!!

I like to brainstorm ideas when a new season comes so I have a nice list of wishes!

I may not get to enjoy all of these this year but I’ve learned that a list of ideas is nice to have when your brain has taken a summer vacation. 😉

Here’s my list of 50 essential summer activities!!

Btw, most of these are free! Bonus!!

  1. Go to a park
  2. Catch Fireflies
  3. Sign up for a local VBS
  4. Play with bubbles
  5. Throw frisbee
  6. Visit some National Parks
  7. Find an awesome lake and spend the day
  8. Go to a State Park or two
  9. Have a play date with some friends
  10. Several movie theaters offer cheap movies during the summer
  11. There’s always library reading programs. Our local library has lots of great entertainment all summer.
  12. Arts programs are fun.
  13. Festivals – I love a good festival!!
  14. Make a craft!
  15. Having a reading party
  16. Go swim a bunch
  17. Play in the sprinkler
  18. Get in the creek
  19. Start a family book
  20. Do silly pictures
  21. Start a Bible Study with and for your kids
  22. Try a new recipe or maybe one each week
  23. Do a family game night or one a week.
  24. Play with water balloons
  25. Play with glow sticks
  26. Make sun tea
  27. Make sidewalk art
  28. Go camping
  29. Make homemade ice cream
  30. Go out with the girls to refresh your mommy-soul.
  31. Go for plenty of walks
  32. Do a family video
  33. Take a bunch of silly photos
  34. Dig in your storage for toys or activities that you haven’t enjoyed in a while.
  35. Purge your closets before school starts back
  36. Make S’mores
  37. Do a science experiment
  38. Visit an elderly person
  39. Find a cause to volunteer with
  40. Go to a Home Depot class
  41. Splash pad
  42. Let the kids choose for the day
  43. Geocache
  44. Bowl for free. You’ll want to sign up for this program.
  45. Movie night with sleeping bags
  46. Camp out in the living room
  47. Go stargazing
  48. Watch fireworks
  49. Wash the car
  50. Go on a picnic
