Bible Verses about the Peace of God

May 16, 2018 By Susan 5 Comments

This is a collection of Bible verses about the Peace of God. These are great to meditate on, write out, and even pray. May your days be filled with peace.

Two weeks ago my family embarked on a weekend road trip. We were driving four hours north to see an awesome museum. The drive is really easy, even for the kiddos.

About half way to our destination, a storm hit. We could see it in the distance; the sky was dark, lightning was striking, and the temperature was dropping.

There was nothing we could do. We were headed straight for it.

Once the rain set in, you couldn’t see anything. Our wipers were on the highest of high setting and it wasn’t fast enough. It was a big, fat rain.

Honestly, it was a little scary. Well, ok, a lot scary.

I was driving at the time so I felt it was best to stop at the upcoming rest area. We couldn’t bring ourselves to get out of the car even though we needed a potty break. The storm was just too terrible.

Just then a motorcycle pulled in beside us. No doubt he couldn’t see anything on the road either which is why he stopped too. We thought we had it bad in our car. This poor guy was drenched. Head to toe. Water was streaming off this guy’s face. It probably took a week to dry out. He did make it inside which was a good thing.

Eventually, the storm passed.

We waited it out in the car but after the storm was over the air was different. It was cool and had the smell of rain. Things had changed. There was peace after the storm subsided.

Those of us who deal with depression, grief, rejection, insecurity, or worse know this kind of storm in our hearts.

13 Essential Bible Verses about God's Peace

Storms of the heart can be so dark at times, that we can’t see the light of day. The wind howls, the sky is dark, and you can’t find a safe place to hide from the storm. You want safety and security but it always seems to be out of reach. Often, it’s hard to find a safe person to talk to.

Maybe you even question God, “why do I struggle and others seem to be immune?” Perhaps they are more secure. Perhaps they fake it ‘real’ good. Who knows? I’m sure that more people deal with heart struggles than you would imagine. The truth is that we live in a broken world full of broken people. We are not made to live life without struggles but rather we are called to live in peace during the storm.

Whatever you are dealing with, God is with you.

He is our refuge from the storm.

He is our comforter.

He is our peace.

If you know Jesus, then the benefit of His peace is available to you at any time. You simply need to fill up your heart with the good things of God and He will take care of the rest. He promised this to us, just read it for yourself below.

This is a collection of Bible verses about God’s peace that show me time and time again that God is a God of peace and he’s waiting for me to let Him in to protect me from the storm.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:6-7

“And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.”

Colossians 3:15

“May the LORD give strength to his people! May the LORD bless his people with peace!”

Psalm 29:11

“Peace I leave with you;my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”

John 14:27

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

John 16:33

“The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.”

Matthew 11:28-30

“But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.”
