I often hear people asking the wrong question about church, “How Do I Get The Most Out Of Church?” Well it’s good that you want to enrich your church experience but let’s try to think about what we can use from the service to deepen our relationship with God.
What can I take with me from the service? What can I share with others? How do I open my heart for God to speak to me?
Check your heart. If you hold a twinge of regret about your time verses going to church, you need to readjust your outlook. It should not be a burden. It should be a joy to gather with fellow believers to enjoy God. If you don’t enjoy church, pray that God will give you a strong desire to go and that He will help you enjoy the service. If you want more encouragement about this read this post.
Focus on Godly things. It’s very challenging to clear your head long enough to enjoy Gods presence, at least at first. It gets easier with practice and discipline, but focusing on Him and His goodness can be one of the most powerful things you do for your life. If you need inspiration, read this.
Go to service often. Most churches have service and small group/Sunday School on Sunday morning, then something on Sunday night, and more on Wednesday. Every church is different so look for a one that fits your needs. Ask God for clarity here. He wants you to get plugged into a church.
Connect with a small group. I can’t tell you enough how wonderful a small group can be for you and your family. Small groups are groups that you can study the Bible with, connect, and share each other’s stories.
If you are ready for church to be more than just going to a building on Sunday morning (or less frequently), you need a change of heart and you need to plug in to the church.
How will you get plugged in at church?
