The Rest of 2016 . . .  What Will You Do With It?

When you say ‘It’s November’, most people respond by saying ‘where has the year gone?’ or ‘I can’t believe this year is about over’. Either response means that time flies. And yes, it does. Time keeps trucking along regardless of our plans or goals and regardless of whether or not we achieve them.

Think back to January 2016, do you remember the goal you said you were going to accomplish? Only you know what it is. Did you do it? If you did, congratulations!! If not, now is your chance. You still have time. Instead of saying 10 months of 2016 have past, let’s say 2 months of 2016 are left.

2016 does not have to end with another broken promise to yourself.

Great things can be accomplished in two months.

How do you accomplish what you want in only two months of the year?

  1. Make a plan. This is essential. Period. If you don’t decide how to spend your time, money, or energy it will slip through your fingers and will be gone forever. Sit down with a piece of paper and write the things you want to accomplish. Then decide what items need to be completed each week to reach your goal. Hint: there are 8 weeks to plan great things for.
  2. Use your resources wisely. All three of the resources above can only be spent once. Think of it this way. The dollar in your hand will not come back to you later after you spend it. You have to earn another dollar to use. Time, on the other hand, is a gift given each day from our Heavenly Father. How will you spend your valuable resources?
  3. Declutter your schedule. It’s time to slow down and focus. It’s hard to focus being pulled in 14 different directions. Declutter your schedule and make a plan for your time. Use the big items first rule. Big items first means you schedule big things then fill in with smaller items. Be sure to leave some buffer time. This will save you some sanity.
  4. Be intentional. Of course you expected this one. Simply, decide what you want from the last 60 or so days of the year, then make it happen. The choice is yours.

How will you finish your year?

Life is a grand total of our choices. What do you choose today?

Progress through purpose, change through choice!!
